Why it's a horse, of course...

This week I took a drive up to beautiful Kyneton in the Central Highlands of Victoria, to meet with the very lovely and helpful Anne Hall at Perry's Saddlery. I'm wanting to expand on my horse photography, and I thought Anne might be able to give me some suggestions, or at least be happy to carry some of my business cards in their store. As it turns out, Anne is a dressage, young horse and show judge, as well as being a coach and competitor herself, and she very kindly gave me some really useful information on ways I can move forward with this.

I have loved horses for many years - way back in my school days I used to have my own, and would spend many hours with them, riding all around the streets of my hometown. I did the whole pony club and gymkhana thing. I've ridden on and off over the years since, but not for some time. (I've had some falls I'd much rather forget, too!)

Now I'm looking to expand on my 'Carnival' series, and hoping to include lots of different horse disciplines - hack, polo, dressage, jumping etc. The Show Horse Council of Victoria is having an Autumn Classic at Werribee this Sunday. My camera and I will be there - hoping to get some really great material to work with.

In total contrast to last Saturday in Melbourne, which saw the most extraordinary weather conditions unfold - major flash flooding, hail storm, millions of dollars worth of damage, as it turned out... today is perfect blue skies and sunshine. Keeping my fingers crossed for more of the same tomorrow. I so love Autumn! It is such a magical and special time of the year.
