Time and tide

"Time is the most undefinable yet paradoxical of things; the past is gone, the future is not come, and the present becomes the past even while we attempt to define it, and, like the flash of lightning,
at once exists and expires."
~Charles Caleb Colton (1780–1832)

"Methinks I see the wanton hours flee,
And as they pass, turn back and laugh at me."
~George Villiers (1628 – 1687)

"Whether we wake or we sleep,
Whether we carol or weep,
The Sun with his Planets in chime,
Marketh the going of Time."
~Edward Fitzgerald (1809 – 1883)

Not quite believing it's 21 years today since I landed in the UK for the very first time. How is that even possible? I created this series 'Memory Lane' two years ago, from a bunch of old film shots that I'd taken while my then English boyfriend, Simon, and I were living there. Wow. The memories those two years stir up. I've always dreamt of going back someday. Time gets away. But I haven't given up on that dream.

I fell in love with the UK - weather and all. In all the years I've lived in Australia, I've never felt so at home as I did during my stint in England. It felt so familiar. So right being there. I almost didn't come back to Oz when Simon got residency. I often wonder what would have happened, had I made the choice to stay.
