I found out yesterday morning that my submission to the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery's 2010 Outback Open Art Prize has been short-listed. My piece has been printed, now it just needs to be stretched, packed and shipped. My first time. It's incredibly exciting!

Opening night and judging is happening on 23 July. I'd love to be there. It would be such a buzz to win, especially in Broken Hill, given the personal significance this place has to my family, particularly my father. He has a long history and a multitude of memories connected with this region, going way back to his earliest days in the drilling industry. Given how difficult the past 6 months or so have been, particularly for him, in all he has had to go through to try and unravel my brother's incredibly complex life and business affairs, it would make a win here extra special.

And for all the wonderful support they have given me with my photographic endeavours this past year and a half, how could I do anything other than dedicate any win I might be fortunate enough to have, to my beloved family?

It's in the lap of the gods now.

Providence means for him." ~Henry Ward Beecher
